Twenty original profiles use OpenStreetMap geometry via OSRM with SRTM or EU-DEM elevations. Sa Calobra uses MallorcaVelo’s openly licensed GPX. 36 further profiles now use independent open-road and elevation sources while retaining their original ride corridors. The download contains all 57 open-data profiles, notices, processing settings and the disclosed height estimates.

Elevation sources
USGS/NASA SRTM v3 30 m is public-domain elevation data, accessed through Open Topo Data. Copernicus EU-DEM v1.1 was produced with funding by the European Union and accessed through Open Topo Data under its open-access terms. Apogee adapts heights through sampling and filtering; exact settings and inherited modifications are recorded per route.

Mount Buffalo and Falls Creek: Source: Vicmap Elevation DEM 10m, © State of Victoria (Department of Transport and Planning; source metadata also credits Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action), CC BY 4.0. Apogee selects, interpolates and filters terrain heights along the original road corridor. Historic 10m ground model, vertical RMSE 5m or better; approximate road heights, not a current survey. Falls Creek retains Bogong High Plains Road; native mapping is 3.125% shorter than the historical recording, with up to58m local offsets. Its40.9m bridge uses three explicitly estimated deck heights between exposed terrain approaches. No provider endorsement.
Flanders: Bron: Digitaal Vlaanderen, DHMV II 2013–2015, OpenLiDAR, Gratis Open Data Licentie Vlaanderen v1.2. Apogee selects the original roads and interpolates/filters native heights. Two railway-underpass interior heights are estimated between measured approaches. The historic terrain/surface and reviewed road returns are approximate, not a current survey or provider endorsement.
Alpe d’Huez: © IGN, RGE ALTI and BD TOPO, Licence Ouverte 2.0, accessed October 2026. Apogee selects, interpolates and filters heights along the original mapped D211 and town streets. Six bridge decks use explicit estimates between exposed terrain approaches. The original road order, endpoints and 25 m/250 m filters are retained. An 11.57 m native Main Roads Western Australia centreline connector is used under CC BY 4.0, with sub-metre alignment joins. Local mapping offsets reach 38.8 m. This is a virtual route, not a surveyed profile or verified current race course.
Duisburg: Geobasis NRW 2025 DGM1 ground terrain and classified bridge measurements, Datenlizenz Deutschland Zero 2.0. Apogee selects, interpolates and filters these heights. The original circuit uses a 12.4 m estimated virtual turnaround between mapped carriageways; local mapping differs by up to 47.4 m. Twenty-two tunnel-floor samples are estimated between measured approaches. Virtual event directions are not outdoor cycling guidance.
Pikes Peak: USGS3DEP Colorado1m historic bare-earth terrain, public domain. Apogee samples, interpolates and filters1899heights along the original Cascade approach, full highway ascent and summit road. Summit mapping differs locally by up to13.1m. Ground heights beneath bridges and the toll canopy are approximate, not surveyed road surfaces.
Haleakalā: USGS3DEP n21w157 one-third arcsecond ground terrain (about10m), public domain. Apogee selects, interpolates and filters3473samples along the original Paia ascent and summit finish. The same summit parking area has mapping offsets up to21.2m; its short paved footpath finish is retained for virtual riding. Road and bridge-deck heights are approximate, not surveyed.
Central Park: USGS public-domain 3DEP NY_CMPG_2013 bare-earth terrain, NAVD88. Apogee selects, interpolates and filters these historic heights onto OpenStreetMap geometry. Bridge decks are not independently surveyed. The virtual ride retains its original northern footpath/steps and clockwise circuit; it is not outdoor cycling guidance.
Nice and Sunshine Coast use documented estimates at mapped bridges and tunnels. Dali’s 0.81–3.32 km section and its return use an authored approximation between lower surface samples; actual road heights there remain unverified. Formentor retains an estimated tunnel floor. The download identifies every modelled interval and connector adjustment.
Profile accuracy and changes
All 57 externally sourced profiles now have documented open-data sources. The original ride choices, names and map labels are retained. Historical publisher files are kept privately for comparison and are not redistributed.
Profiles represent approximate terrain or recorded heights, not surveyed road surfaces or navigation instructions. Interpolation adds no measured detail. Corcovado, Yungas, Tianmen, Shimanami, Bukhan and Pacific Coast contain explicitly modelled sections where terrain data produced extreme slopes. These sections interpolate between surrounding heights; Corcovado’s final height is estimated from its approach slope. The source download records every modified interval. Those six earlier repairs retain their original route paths, lengths and turns. Doi Inthanon now uses independently sampled terrain; its original 25 m sampling and 200 m filter are retained.
